CLINCH RIVER Manufactures and Distributes R&S Modular, Interchangeable-Section, Lined Cyclones

The R&S system of modular, lined cyclones solves the two most frustrating maintenance problems facing the multiple-cyclone user: untimely replacement of complete units because of uneven wear rates within the cyclones and the need to stock an inventory of parts or complete units for each of the several kinds of cyclones in use.

  • Long-life, ceramic-lined units for minimum maintenance
  • Multiple-use, modular sections simplify stocking and inventory of replacement parts
  • The R&S modular system of 14", 20", 24", and 28" diameter cyclones utilizes easily replaceable lined sections that are interchangeable between various kinds and sized of cyclones. Each section consists of a ceramic liner, a steel or aluminum outer shell, and an intermediate filler material to cushion the liner and protect it from outside impact. The separate sections are bolted together for easy handling and replacement.

Three benefits of the modular system are:

  • Replacement costs are greatly reduced because only the lining in worn sections needs to be replaced. The outer shell is reusable.
  • Inventory of spare liners is kept at a minimum because of the high degree of interchangeability between cyclones of different types and sizes.
  • The system offers the potential for changing the function or capacity of a particular cyclone by simply adding or replacing modular sections.

Classifying Cyclones
Model RS/C Classifying Cyclones maintain a consistent efficiency and accuracy in separation, concentration and classification or dewatering over a wide range of materials. Differences in specific gravity and particle size are compensated and fine-tuned to optimum performance by selecting components with various orifice sizes. Inlet, underflow and vortex finder diameters can be varied in an infinite number of combinations to accomplish the separation or sizing at desired capacity. Further control may be exercised by adjusting the inlet feed pressure.

Heavy Media Cyclones
Model RS/HM Heavy Media Cyclones permit upgrading marginal coal seams to premium quality by efficiently separating and removing ash forming minerals, gangue, and pyritic sulfur. Using a viscose mixture of water, product and magnetite, specific gravities are carefully controlled to achieve desired separation of impurities regardless of particle size or shape.

Water Only Cyclones
Model RS/WO Water Only cyclones are offered in standard or high capacity units, achieving separation through extremely high centrifugal forces in the ascending vortex. The Water Only cyclone is of modular design and construction. Components subject to heavy wear can simply be replaced without disturbing the other sections.
